Is PDI really necessary for a new car?
Yes. Don’t skip your PDI.
A new car doesn’t go straight from the factory to you. It can face damage in transport, sit in a dealer yard for months, or even be year-old stock. A pre-delivery inspection catches these problems before you take the keys.
What a PDI can find
On one new EV we inspected, we found airbag damage, many OBD scan errors, rust and small dents that buyers normally can’t spot. After the dealer fixed everything, the customer took delivery.
“We’ll fix it at the first service”
Dealers often say a fault is “like that from the company” or promise to sort it at the next service. We believe clearing every fault before delivery is the showroom’s job. A fix at the first service also goes into your service-book history, and a future buyer may wonder if the car had a major repair.
On delivery day, check these
- The VIN on your papers matches the VIN on the car, and the colour is the one you booked
- Registration papers are ready (temporary registration or new RC)
- Insurance is in your name, and insurance and tax papers are clear
- The odometer reading. A test drive is needed, and showroom cars often arrive with 30 to 100 km already on it
Every inspection by Krypton Garage Services includes a visual check, a test drive, a full document and traffic fine check, and a detailed report sent to you.
